What you'll be doing
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in reach team (CIRT) is a new, dedicated, multidisciplinary service providing specialist consultation and liaison for children and young people (0-17) experiencing mental health problems (including co-morbid substance use) and their parents/caregivers, admitted or presenting to Royal North Shore or Hornsby hospital paediatric wards, Psychiatric Emergency Care Centres (PECC), and other hospital settings as indicated.
The service will provide assessment, in-reach consultation-liaison, short term evidence-based interventions, collaborative care planning with children, young people, their parents/caregivers, and other systems of support as appropriate. The service will collaborate with CYMHS, drug and alcohol, and other services to facilitate early intervention, warm handover and engagement for ongoing community treatment as needed.
The service will also provide advice and professional development for medical, nursing, and allied health hospital staff to assist in building capacity in caring for children and young people experiencing mental health and co-morbid substance use difficulties.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience as per clinical discipline. Full AHPRA registration or a Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW. Allied Health Professionals will need minimum experience as a Level 2. Clinical Nurse Consultant requires minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent experience in Mental Health. In addition, must have an approved post graduate qualification. Clinical Psychologist must hold a Masters degree or higher. Senior Clinical Psychologist must have completed no less than 12 months service at the 5th year of service as Clinical Psychologist.
- Experience and knowledge of assessment, formulation, crisis management and effective care planning with children and young people experiencing mental health problems (including co-morbid substance use).
- Demonstrated skills and ability to provide clinical consultancy, effective communication, partnership development and negotiation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to strengths-based practice and recovery focused care as well as consumer and carer participation and consultation.
