What you'll be doing
This role is for a dedicated Research Nurse embedded within RNSH Emergency Department with the primary role of coordinating the  BRAVE-CHIP pilot trial.

What is the BRAVE-CHIP?
The “BRAVE-CHIP” pathway is a new model of care that applies contemporary rib fracture treatment with early regional anaesthesia techniques to accelerate a patients’ transition into virtual care following presentation to the Emergency Department with fractured ribs.

The BRAVE-CHIP pilot clinical trial will assess whether the “BRAVE-CHIP” pathway can have an impact on hospital length of stay whilst preserving pain management and respiratory support goals for our patients with rib fractures.

The Research Nurse will assist with study enrolment, up-skilling of study champions, notification of enrolments to all participating teams and will coordinate the required follow-up of outcome measures for both Virtual Care patients and those admitted into the hospital under the Trauma Service. Additionally, they will be the primary study database manager.

Further, the position will encompass all the various phases of research development leading to a positive educational experience for the incumbent RN. This aids in meeting the goal of developing increased capability and capacity within our organisation.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  3. An understanding of the Good Clinical Practice principles of clinical research. Prior experience with clinical research.
  4. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team..
