An opportunity has become available for an experienced Clinical Coder to join the Northern Sydney Local Health District team.


Employment Type:  Permanent Full Time and Permanent Part Time available. 
Position Classification: Dependant on qualifications
Remuneration: $30.05 - $40.77 per hour
Hours Per Week: 38 and 35 available

Administration Officer Level 3: $30.05 - $31.04
Administration Officer Level 4: $31.88 - $32.65
Administration Officer Level 5: $33.67 - $34.47
Medical Records Administrator: $31.14 - $40.77

What you'll be doing
The primary responsibility of a clinical coder is the accurate translation of narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries and procedures into alphanumeric codes using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) within the NSW Health and Northern Sydney Local Health District timeframes.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Completion of a recognised ICD-10-AM coding course or relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management or equivalent experience.
  3. Experience using 3M Codefinder and coding books across a range of specialties with a proven knowledge of Australian Coding Standards.
  4. Practical knowledge and experience in current disease classification in a tertiary teaching hospital.
  5. Demonstrated experience with Patient Administration system / eMR.
  6. Understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups as per episode funding principles and their application within the health system.
  7. Demonstrated attention to detail and proven ability to prioritise tasks.
  8. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
