Where you'll be working
The role will be based at the Vanderfield Building onsite of Royal North Shore Hospital. This position may require travel to other facilities within NSLHD.
What you'll be doing
The Government has committed to implementing a significant state-wide change to nursing and midwifery staffing methodology in the form of Safe Staffing Levels (SSL). SSL will be implemented in key clinical areas including Nursing Hours Per Patient Day (NHPPD) wards, Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Multipurpose Services and Maternity Services (postnatal).
The SSL Administration Officer role will support the work activities of the Safe Staffing Levels (SSL) Nurse Manager in the implementation of SSL across NSLHD.
This role may provide functions across the local health district, work closely with existing administrative staff and complement existing roles, systems and processes in each organisation. The role will provide timely and accurate administrative / transactional services for members of the SSL team under the direction of the SSL Nurse Manager. The role will work under broad supervision but will be required to take some independent action. Scope exists for exercising initiative in the application of established work practices and procedures. Decisions affecting the overall functioning and management of the SSL project remain the responsibility of the Nurse Manager.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
- Holds a Certificate III in Health Administration and/or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication skills including accurate spelling, good comprehension, confidence in the spoken word and ability to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
- Demonstrated experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Capacity to work under broad supervision and to undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team in a high-pressure, high-volume work environment.
