 Where you'll be working


The Nurse Manager is responsible for the leadership, planning, development, and management of multi-disciplinary clinical trials within the Haematology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital.

What you'll be doing
The Nurse Manager - Haematology Clinical Trials is responsible for the leadership, planning, development, and management of multi-disciplinary clinical trials within the Haematology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD). This position ensures alignment with the strategic objectives of the NSW Cancer Institute and NorthStar, contributing to the advancement of cancer treatment and care.
 
The position involves negotiating with stakeholders such as investigators, research organisations (including Contract Research Organisations, pharmaceutical companies, collaborative groups, and tertiary institutions), and funding bodies to ensure research proposals meet guidelines and align with research goals. The Nurse Manager will evaluate new trial proposals, considering target populations, trial procedures, and the unit's capacity to meet Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
 
The position is responsible for obtaining regulatory approvals from Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs) and Research Governance prior to trial commencement, providing strategic and operational direction for the trials service and oversight of daily operations.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  2. Registered Nurse with current registration through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  3. Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience in the management and delivery of health care services, with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving and negotiation with proven ability to engage, enable and manage teams and key stakeholders.
  5. Demonstrated extensive nursing management experience and leadership skills with proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture.
  6. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Haematology clinical trials management, and delivery of patient care and coordination.
  7. Proven ability to lead the strategic and operational management of a Clinical Trials Unit.
