Exciting position exists to be a senior staff member in a dynamic trials team within Medical Oncology
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 2 June 2026 (with possibility of ongoing employment)
Position Classification: Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 1)
Remuneration: $2,428.60 - $2,478.30 per week

Medical Oncology Clinical Trials Unit at RNSH
What you'll be doing
Clinical trials have played a key role in the innovation of medical practice and establishment of current standard of care for patients. From the submission of a new trial proposal to archival of old studies, clinical trials require healthcare professionals with advanced skills and knowledge. Clinical trial coordinators, as a part of a clinical team and as a mediator between the sponsor and multidisciplinary teams at the site, are responsible for the implementation of complex protocols. Conducting clinical trials often includes managing novel cancer therapies, and reviewing patients with complex medical conditions for adverse events, nursing care requirements and nursing education.
The Clinical Trials Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty through the delivery of specialist consultant service which:
- Provision of quality patient centred care across tumour streams in line with operational requirements of the service.
- Coordination of required clinical review, nursing care, expert advice and education support for patients and healthcare providers, clinical appointments, and other clinical trial mandatory procedures/tests.
- Compliance with the strategic directions of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Clinical Services Plan and other policies.
- Demonstration of clinical leadership in the context of evidence-based practice.
- Proposal of new researches and application of new research findings in practice.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current AHPRA registration as a registered nurse and at least 5 years full time equivalent post graduate experience and approved post registration nursing qualifications and/or experience relevant to the clinical area.
- Demonstrated effective organisational and time management skills and the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated excellent collaborative, leadership and teaching skills.
