An exciting opportunity is available to join the After-Hours Nurse Manager team at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing hospital operations after hours, providing senior clinical and operational leadership.

What you’ll be doing:
The After-Hours Nurse Manager is a key leadership role within Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital management team, ensuring the seamless operation of the hospital outside standard business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
The role is pivotal in maintaining clinical and operational oversight, ensuring high-quality patient care, managing nursing resources effectively, and providing leadership during clinical situations. The After-Hours Nurse Manager serves as the senior point of contact during these periods, supporting staff and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional excellence.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registered Nurse Division 1.
- Extensive post registration clinical experience within the acute care setting with recent experience in senior nursing management positions.
- Proven leadership qualities and the ability to set priorities, establish and achieve agreed objectives particularly surrounding patient access and clinical innovation related to patient flow processes and KPI achievement.
- Highly developed communication skills with the ability to use critical thinking skills in problem solving.
- Effective negotiation and conflict management skills with the ability to motivate staff and maintain effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative, motivational and self directed with workplace projects and clinical innovation which reflect person centred care priorities.
- Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office computer applications, Health Support platforms and the Patient Flow Portal.
