Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Division of Surgery & Anaesthetics.
Successful applicants will be Clinical Superintendent in Surgery with a twelve-month appointment to a leadership role and will participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the respective specialty Department and Hospital as required.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Selection Criteria
- Current medical practitioner registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard, with ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal), clinical skills, judgement and expertise, teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated track record in supervision and training of junior medical staff, including prevocational and advanced trainees.
- Evidence of the following attributes: ability to work under pressure; ability to work effectively as part of a team; ability to be flexible, organized, and autonomous.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and professional development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education and continuing professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, including the provision of services to local community, effective use of resources, preparedness to participate in provision of health services at District level, if credentialed.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award
Employees and Contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
The position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the office of the Children’s Guardian.
