- Possess or be eligible for registration with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) ;
- Possess Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Sound clinical knowledge in Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including: high level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team; evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty; and relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
- Demonstrated considerable commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards; interest in pursuing roles such as Supervisor of Training or Director of Education
- Take an active administrative role in the compilation and rostering of junior medical staff in accordance with the relevant awards and conditions.
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff;
- Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
