About Us

The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs. 

 

A Temporary Part Time Clinical Nurse Consultant position has opened up with Child & Adolescent Mental Health Team. You will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of Child and Youth Mental Health Care and who will consult on matters relating to safe and appropriate Mental Health Care.

 

The successful incumbent will work collaboratively to provide safe, compassionate, person-centred Mental Health Care in collaboration with clients, patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams. Part of this role you will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities.

What you will bring to the role 

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in child and youth mental health and post graduate qualifications in child and youth mental health or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
  3. Demonstrated ability to apply clinical expertise in patient-centred consultancy with the ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  5. Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
  7. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, experience in the development of specialty education programs, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
  8. Evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE values of NSW Health with all stakeholders including colleagues, clients, patients and their families.
