An exciting opportunity is available to for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Penrith Mental Health Team. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in providing recovery-focused, evidence-based assessments, and interventions to support clients in the areas of occupational participation, performance, community connection, and role development. Your work will have a significant impact on the lives of individuals within the Penrith community.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Mental Health Lead Occupational Therapist in offering clinical expertise, consultation, and education to other professionals in the multidisciplinary team. This position also ensures provision of clinical supervision for Level 1 and 2 Occupational Therapists.

What you will bring to the role 

  1. Degree in Occupational Therapy with current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia).
  2. Substantial post graduate clinical experience in a Mental Health service setting. Demonstrated capabilities for recovery- oriented practice and high level of knowledge, skills and clinical expertise for occupational therapy service provision in a mental health setting.
  3. Demonstrated experience in leadership, provision of clinical supervision, and experience in the supervision of undergraduate occupational therapy students.
  4. Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to manage a complex caseload with competing priorities.
  5. Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovative, evidence- based individual and group interventions to support people with persistent and severe mental health problems.
  6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and effective time management skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
