About Us

Our District’s Oral Health (Dental) services are provided to eligible patients at the following locations: Nepean Centre for Oral Health, Blue Mountains Hospital Dental Clinic, Hawkesbury Dental Clinic, and the Lithgow Hospital Dental Clinic. The team offers public dental services including diagnosis, restorative and preventative treatments, pain relief and dentures.
An exciting opportunity is now available for a Dental Officer to join the Oral Health team, located at Nepean Hospital. This is a temporary role until June 2026 and is available on either a full time or part time basis.
Your role as Dental Officer is to provide a high standard of general oral health care, including oral health education, to eligible residents in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD). The role will see you undertake thorough oral examinations, including examination of soft and hard tissues, for each patient allocated to you. You will then develop an appropriate treatment plan for each patient under your care, after informing and discussing with each patient his/her treatment needs, treatment options and consequences of treatment/non treatment.

What you will bring to the role
- Registered as a Dentist, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated sound clinical and diagnostic skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including the general public
- A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a preventive / population health approach to patient care
- A demonstrated ability to work within a large team
- A demonstrated commitment to continuing education
