This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing team of case managers who work to protect the public by ensuring that medical practitioners are fit to practise medicine.


About us

The Medical Council of NSW South Wales is responsible for ensuring medical practitioners are fit to practice medicine. This is achieved by ensuring registered doctors maintain proper standards of conduct and competence via a range of programs and services. The Council works alongside the Health Care Complaint Commission to fairly and efficiently manage complaints about medical practitioners with the overriding objective of public protection.

 

About the roles

These two new permanent roles have been created due to increases in volume and complexity of the Council’s most urgent and high priority work. The Senior Program Officer provides case management of complex high risk matters where immediate action may be required to enable the Council to take action to protect the public where a practitioner may put the health or safety of the public at risk.

 

This is a supportive, high performing team environment and you will be analysing, planning and gathering information in order to prepare briefs of evidence for decision makers. You will attend hearings, assist and advise the decision makers and contribute as a senior team member to the knowledge and development of the team. You will speak directly with Council members and delegates, practitioners, solicitors and colleagues to effectively deliver the consistent, efficient and evidence based decision making of the Council. 

 
About you                                                                                                                  

We are looking for applicants with demonstrated skills in analysing and gathering information, developing solutions and recommendations in a complex legislative and policy environment. You will have the ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines within tight time frames. You will be able to work independently and within a small team environment.

 

To be successful you will have:

  • Experience in case managing time sensitive, confidential matters and implementing complex legislative requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to manage high volume workloads whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in writing reports, briefings or recommendations
  • A collaborative approach to problem solving
