The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Implementing the relevant provisions of governing legislation and regulations in respect to national standards and professional conduct of registered health professionals in accordance with delegated authority.
  • Providing high level advice and inform policy development through research and the development of discussion papers and assist with the development and continuing review of policies, procedures and resources for the Council in regard to the performance, health and disciplinary processes for registered health professionals. 


Essential Requirements:

  • Current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and/or Midwife
  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position 
  • Demonstrated understanding of policy and legislation governing nursing and midwifery practice in NSW, and the ability to apply in an operational and strategic contex
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues in nursing and midwifery practice
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing projects and change
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise a broad range of communication skills reflective of the audience and forum
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity to solve problems utilising analytical techniques

1.    Professional Officers are required to manage multiple programs in an allocated portfolio, which often involves working with and managing teams through influence and negotiation. Please provide an example of:

2.    The Professional Officer, Performance and Conduct Program is required to provide professional advice to internal and external stakeholders on nursing and midwifery performance matters. Please outline your recent experience managing the remediation of nurses and/or midwives performance, including the critical principles you used, and the outcomes achieved.
