Role Title:    Principal Policy Officer (Privacy)

About this role

 

This is a lead role within the Regulation and Compliance Unit, with primary responsibility for providing privacy leadership within the Ministry of Health and, more broadly, across the NSW Health system.

Key to your success, you’ll be able to build and maintain collaborative relationships with key staff in public health organisations and in other relevant NSW government agencies to build capability and capacity in privacy governance, management, and privacy awareness, and respond to existing and emerging State-wide privacy matters.

Crown Clerk 11/12, salary from $145,378 - $168,130 plus Super and annual leave loading.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you’ll lead and manage a team within the broader Regulation and Compliance Unit, and work closely with the Director to support compliance with key privacy-related legislation, including the Personal and Privacy Information Protection Act 1998 and for the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002, within the NSW Ministry of Health and more broadly across the NSW Health system.

The role is also responsible for ensuring the Ministry of Health and Health Secretary meets the obligations set out in the Mandatory Notification Of Data Breach Scheme, and leads the assessment and management of data breaches that includes personal or health information held or owned by the Ministry.

About you

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who have demonstrated:

  • Knowledge and understanding of privacy regulation and information governance principles and their application in the health sector.
  • Experience in the delivery of projects with a focus on teamwork and customer service.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to manage and review information.
