Role Outline
 
The Director Finance and Performance provides expert advice and executive leadership in relation to financial, commercial and performance functions of the organization to enable the achievement of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District’s (LHD’s) key priorities and performance targets. In addition to leading the development of financial management capability across the District, the Director of Finance and Performance is responsible for reporting on the use of financial, resources, monitoring and management reporting of the LHD’s budget and performance results to the LHD Executive, Governing Board and the Ministry of Health.
 
The Director Finance and Performance is a critical business partner for MLHD’s executive team, ensuring that both the needs of the organisation and good governance are met. This includes high quality financial and performance improvement planning, as well as ownership and submission of statutory and professional reporting requirements, including addressing audit matters and ensuring appropriate financial management controls and practices consistent with Ministry of Health requirements. The role provides significant input to the development and oversight of strategic business plans, efficiency improvement strategies, activity based management, service improvement and innovation, business strategies and relationship management.

Essential Requirements
 
The successful candidate will have:
  • Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in accountancy, economics, commerce, finance or a related discipline and professional standing for current membership or eligibility for membership of a recognised Australian accounting body
  • Extensive experience in budget management, financial management and development and implementation of financial management policy, systems, controls and reporting arrangements at a senior level
  • Deep understanding in developing activity based costing and in applying this information to financial reporting, variance analysis and measures of efficiency
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $223,327 to $ 246,381 per annum, with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
