About this role
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.
The Centre for Population Health (CPH) aims to promote health and prevent morbidity and mortality caused by modifiable risk factors. The CPH portfolio encompasses blood borne viruses, sexual health, tobacco and obesity. The strategies used to address these issues include state-wide policy and planning, legislation and regulation, program development, resource allocation, performance monitoring, research and evaluation.
The CPH works closely with service provider organisations such as Local Health Districts (LHDs) to manage and support the local delivery of agreed policies, programs and services across the state. Programs and services funded by the CPH are delivered in government, non-government, community and clinical settings. The CPH approach is characterised by a focus on evidence-informed programmatic and system-level interventions that improve health, reduce health inequity, create healthy environments, promote community action, enable personal health-seeking and recognise the social determinants of good health.
The Social Marketing Team lead best practice healthy eating and active living consumer communications to increase access to information, programs and services to motivate and support behaviour change. The role of the Social Marketing and Communications team is to:
- Deliver integrated, high quality end to end social marketing and communication activities through our communication channels, including targeted approaches to reach priority populations
- Partner with stakeholders and specialist technical providers to drive digital integration
- Ensure all communications are aligned with communications strategies and initiatives delivered by the NSW Government, NSW Ministry of Health and CPH, and meet NSW Government requirements.
Crown Clerk 7/8, starting salary from $110,266 - $122,058 (amounts will be added by HR) plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing
- Develop and deliver a range of integrated social marketing and behaviour change communication initiatives using specialist, customer-centric communications/marketing skills ensuring audience identification, messaging, channel plans, brand alignment and evaluation/metrics are clearly defined.
- Support the design, production and delivery of communications, social media, digital and other materials against agreed scope of work, budgets, timelines and to quality standards, including relevant NSW Government legislation and policies to enable the Ministry of Health to meet performance and project goals and objectives.
- Procure, analyse, and apply research insights for the design and delivery of behaviour change initiatives, and to integrate learnings to continually improve impact and achieve outcomes against project deliverables.
- Utilise inclusive, plain-English messaging and content that informs, motivates and connects programs and services to the customers that need them most.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or social marketing or relevant/demonstrated equivalent experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of behaviour change communications.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of planning, developing, implementing and monitoring communication and social marketing activities including unpaid and paid campaigns.
- Understanding of contemporary digital media practices and evidence-based principles, and demonstrated experience managing digital strategies, developing KPIs, and evaluating the performance and effectiveness of digital platforms (including cost effectiveness of unpaid and paid activities).
- Experience providing high level advice and recommendations on complex communication and social marketing initiatives to a range of teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate with other teams outside your direct control.
