About this role

We are looking for a Planning and Policy Analyst to join us in the Strategic Analysis and Investment Unit (SAIU). We are a team of analysts who collaborate closely with Local Health Districts, Specialty Health Networks, other Ministry of Health teams and NSW Health entities to provide expert advice on service and capital planning. We leverage various health data to support strategic policy development, investment decisions, and clinical service planning. Previous experience in health service planning, health policy, health system performance or reporting and/or or clinical roles would be advantageous for this position.

 

Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $ 125,693- $138,510 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing

 

  • Undertake detailed data analysis and modelling across multiple health data sets using different software programs to provide advice on current and projected activity estimates for the review of clinical service plans, to inform investment decisions and strategic policy development.

  • Identify opportunities and provide service planning, analytical and strategic policy advice to support Local Health Districts, Specialty Health Networks and Ministry teams with service planning and investment decisions.

  • Undertake research, analysis and evaluation of system changes, policies and practices to assess their potential impact on service utilisation and service planning.

  • Liaise, communicate, and consult with key staff across NSW Health and other stakeholder representatives to maintain knowledge of service planning issues, build collaborative relationships and promote engagement.

 

 

About you 

 

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health.

 

We are looking for a Planning and Policy Analyst who is familiar with health data assets and keen to leverage these to support various strategic and operational projects related to service planning and investment in NSW Health. Previous experience in health service planning, health service performance or analysis, health policy and/or clinical experience would be considered advantageous for this role.

 

  • Demonstrated highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, with experience using and analysing a broad range of health data assets that impact health system planning through a range of software programs and techniques.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of policies and legislation impacting on health data collection, analytics and health system planning.

  • Substantial experience in the development of policy and provision of technical and analytical advice in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a range of stakeholders.
