As a Principal Policy and Planning Officer you will lead the specialty service oversight work within the unit. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the NSW approach to statewide planning of highly specialised services.

Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $145,378 - $168,130 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards.

What you'll be doing
The Principal Policy officer role manages a variety of actions related to statewide services including, technology evaluation activities, providing high level advice to senior executives, liaising with clinical experts, and maintaining strong collaborative relationships within NSW Health and with stakeholders nationally and internationally.  You will also be responsible for preparing high quality written reports, briefs, correspondence, and cabinet documents to inform or respond to agency or Government requests.


About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Project management and policy skills to review and evaluate projects and policy approaches for the NSW Ministry of Health and related government agencies to address current and emerging issues in relation to highly specialised services.
  • Ability to provide advice, analysis and support to senior executives, staff across the NSW Health Service and the NSW Ministry of Health to consistently interpret and apply policies and practices in relation to highly specialised services.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable preparation of high-quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy advice and analysis, discussion papers, or circulars to inform and to respond to requests, or initiate consideration of new approaches.
  • Tertiary qualifications in health service management, research or significant experience.
  • Experience working in complex clinical environments and clinical services planning experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to help build and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management.
  •  A growth mindset, and commitment to continuous learning and personal development.
  • The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment.
