What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Clinical Director of Anaesthetics, the VMO / Staff Specialist in Anaesthesia will participate in the consultant on-call roster, assist in the education role of the department, provide clinical care to patients as well as perform all types of anaesthesia for the Coffs Clinical Network.

The successful applicant will be registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Anaesthetist. Fellowship of the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases

If you are applying for a Category A position, under the NSW Health Policy Directive PD2020_017, evidence of current immunity status that complies with the policy must be supplied.

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, Fellowship of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and unconditional registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
  2. Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Anaesthetics and evidence of competence in skills relevant to a regional centre hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
  3. Excellent communication and liaison skills, fostering positive and productive working relationships between team members and with other disciplines.
  4. Willing to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster for Anaesthetics.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to Anaesthetics including teaching of medical students, JMOs, Nursing Staff, and other staff as required and an ongoing commitment to research.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement, accreditation requirements and peer review.
