Employment with Mid North Coast LHD requires candidates to hold a valid authority to work in Australia (Aust Work Rights Visa). 


We are seeking a Senior Clinical Speech Pathologist to work as part of our multi-disciplinary Stroke and Speech Pathology Team. In this role, you will use your advanced clinical skills to provide a high quality and responsive Speech Pathology service to acute and subacute inpatients with stroke and is supported by a complementary part-time Level 4 Speech Pathologist equating to a full-time service.

Located at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, this role has a network-wide focus across the Hastings Macleay Clinical Network supporting outreach to neighbouring facilities such as Wauchope Rehabilitation Unit and Kempsey District Hospital.

You will be part of a highly supportive Speech Pathology department consisting of both junior and senior staff working in a range of clinical areas. In this role you will work collaboratively with the wider team across areas of complex care to provide support, education and training to less experienced speech pathologists and students. As a senior clinician you will play a vital part in provision of instrumental assessment such as VFSS and clinician led FEES, and if not already independent in these clinical areas, will be supported in development by an onsite clinical specialist in the team.

This vacancy is to provide maternity leave relief and has the potential to extend beyond this period, there may also be additional hours available to increase beyond the advertised 20 hours.




What you'll be doing

Practising and promoting safe, efficient and effective Inpatient, Outpatient/Community care that reflects current standards of Speech Pathology practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures. Contribute to service development by identifying, leading and evaluating quality improvement projects and providing professional supervision and support to junior staff.


About you, do you have?
  1. Bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Demonstrated extensive level of postgraduate clinical experience in acute dysphagia management, communication and swallowing rehabilitation across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  3. Experience in conducting Videofluoroscopy Swallow Studies, laryngectomy and tracheostomy care.
