What you'll be doing
Practicing and promoting safe, efficient and effective nursing care that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.
The Registered Nurse Opioid Treatment Program coordinates and delivers high quality person-centred nursing care in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia Standards for Practice for Registered Nurses, and the Policies and Procedures of the MoH and MNCLHD.
Nursing care is provided utilising the principles of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery for people with Alcohol or Other Drug (AOD) issues.
Set on the banks of the mighty Macleay River, Kempsey was originally established as a timber and dairy hub and retains many of its historic buildings as a vestige of its past. Home to two great Australian icons – country music legend Slim Dusty, and the Akubra hat, which has been made in the town for the past 50 years – Kempsey is surrounded by national parks and just a short drive from the beautiful beaches of the Macleay Valley Coast.
The Kempsey District Hospital is a 81 bed level three facility with a level four 24-hour Emergency Department and a range of specialist services including, high dependency, general medicine, surgical day procedures, obstetrics, drug and alcohol, mental health, renal dialysis and rehabilitation.
Additional services include physiotherapy, dietetics, social work, occupational therapy and Aboriginal health. Diagnostic services include onsite pathology, CT scans, ultrasound and general x-ray.
