What you'll be doing

  • The primary purpose of MNC Virtual Care is to reduce low acuity ED presentations, reduce preventable admissions and facilitate early hospital discharge.
  • Provide effective and safe medical services within a virtual care framework.
  • Provide education, supervision and support to junior medical staff, paramedics and nursing staff.
  • Formulate and follow protocols to guide expansion of virtual care medical service.
  • Liaise with NSW Ambulance and the Emergency Departments of the MNCLHD for patients referred to the service.
  • Provide discharge summaries to Primary GPs at the time of discharge from the service. 
  • Remain to up to date with best medical practice, specifically as regards Virtual Care medicine.
  • Remain up to date with MNC Virtual pathways and directives.



This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at

Selection Criteria 

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner. and/or overseas trained specialist pathway.
  2. Demonstrated clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and to work an effective member of the clinical team across sites within the MNCLHD.
  4. Highly developed proactive problem-solving skills and willingness to navigate logistics required for complex care provision within the hybrid virtual care / telehealth context with case management.
  5. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
  7. Availability to participate in an on-call roster.
  8. Current NSW driver's licence and willingness to drive for work purposes.
