Where you'll be working
The Griffith Base Hospital provides a range of specialist services (both resident and visiting) including emergency medicine, critical care, general medicine, surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis, Hospital in the Home and rehabilitation.

What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Clinical Director of Emergency Department the Staff Specialist/VMO – Emergency Department will participate in the consultant on-call roster, assist with the education role of the department, and provide clinical care to patients for optimal patient outcomes.
There may also be the requirement to provide support at other sites within MLHD.

Selection Criteria

  1. Holds Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Emergency Medicine
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Emergency Medicine at the role delineation of the service.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
