Where you'll be working
Become part of a dynamic dental team based within the Wagga Wagga dental cluster of The Oral Health Clinical Network MLHD. The clinical network provides dental services to eligible people across multiple sites in community based dental clinics.  The clinical team within the MLHD comprises Dental assistants,  Dental therapists, Oral Health Therapists, Dentists, Oral Surgeons, and Paediatric Specialist Dentists. The dental clinic at WWBH campus is located in the Health Services Hub and it is a modern clinical environment that provides access to both general and specialist services including dental services delivered under general anaesthetic and complex restorative care. The clinic also hosts dental students for clinical placements and registrars in dental specialist training. 


What you'll be doing
VDO’s can become involved in all aspects of local public dental service delivery including translational and clinical research and NSW Health public dental programme/project implementation as directed by the MLHD Oral Health Clinical Network. You will also provide mentorship and professional support to oral health clinicians and clinical education including supervision of dental students, dental specialist in training and early career clinicians if required. VDO's will provide clinical general dentistry care to eligible patients of the Oral Health Service in Murrumbidgee Local Health District facilities, on a sessional fee basis. The VDO will be expected to practice within their scope of practice. They will be employed as per the remuneration and service contract requirements prescribed in the Visiting Dental Officers - Remuneration and Contract Requirements Policy Directive  PD2022-030 (or latest version thereof)
  1. Registered or registrable by mutual recognition, as a Dentist, with the Dental Board of Australia. Must currently hold and maintain current professional medical/dental indemnity insurance
  2. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of infection control principles.
  4. An understanding of current concepts in clinical practice including activity based and value-based care.
  5. Skills and commitment to work effectively in multi-disciplinary dental teams, with effective time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Adequate computer skills for clinical and associated applications.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and patient safety activities relevant to dental practice.
  8. Demonstrated technical and professional competence as a Board registered dentist.
