About the Opportunity
As the Registered Nurse, you will:
The Child and Family Health Nursing unit forms an integral part of primary health care. It acts as an entry point into the community health care system and occurs in multiple settings within the community, supporting an integrated multidisciplinary service response based on individual client and family needs. It aims to:
- Maintain, improve and promote the optimal health and wellbeing of children aged 0-5 years and their families.
- Provide safe, compassionate care through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
- Collaborate with families and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve safe quality care outcomes that meet the goals of the child and family.
The Child and Family Health Nurse practices within a primary health care framework to provide a comprehensive range of child and family health services to infants, children , their parents, carers and families in pregnancy, where required, through to five (5) years of age. The Child and Family Health Nurse is responsible for:
- Utilising the Family Partnership Model as the foundation for the nurse-family relationship and supportive counselling to deliver programs such as Universal Health Home Visiting and Safe Start.
- Providing a screening and surveillance program for infants and children as informed by the NSW Personal Health Record using evidence-based tools.
- Providing opportunistic immunisations according to the NSW Childhood Immunisation Schedule (0-5 years).
- Actively promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding.
- Facilitating evidence-based groups delivered to meet child health, development and parenting support needs of families within the community.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and respond flexibly to changing clinical priorities.
