- Minimum Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification with subjects relevant to biological/environmental studies from a recognised tertiary institution relevant to the field of Microbiology
- Demonstrated experience working in an accredited laboratory or relevant environment, including understanding and practical knowledge of relevant laboratory instrumentation operation and maintenance
- Sound computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office applications and ability to use Laboratory Information Systems or equivalent systems
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients as well as other staff
- Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement with knowledge of accreditation framework and relevant standards
- Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence
