An exciting opportunity exists for motivated Registered Nurse / Midwife with an authorised immuniser certificate as per requirements of the Authority for Registered Nurses/Midwives https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation/Documents/authority-for-RNs-and-midwives.pdf to join the dynamic multi-disciplinary team at RNSH Maternity Services. This position is located within our Antenatal Clinics and Inpatient Maternity Services to support the timely administration of vaccines and education to protect pregnant women and babies. This is a part time role looking for clinicians who may want a flexible part time pattern up to 4 days a week Monday - Friday.

Where you'll be working

 

This position is located within our Antenatal Clinics and Inpatient Maternity Services, Royal North Shore Hospital. 

What you'll be doing

The Immunisation Nurse/Midwife Maternity Services is responsible for the provision of antenatal/postnatal vaccination services within the maternity service at Royal North Shore and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospitals. 

The position will provide information and education for Midwives and Obstetric and Neonatal Medical Officers in relation to vaccinations,  and support the Midwifery Unit Managers with advice in relation to immunisation clinical issues, vaccine storage and cold chain management.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse/Midwife - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and completed the relevant authorised nurse/midwife immuniser training.   2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing/midwifery practice and continuing professional development with the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Demonstrated computer literacy skills with the ability to use the Australian Immunisation Register and health information systems.
  6. Demonstrated problem solving and sound judgement skills with detailed clinical knowledge, understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles.
