Genetic Counsellor
- Undergraduate degree in a non-nursing, non-medical discipline and in addition hold a post graduate qualification in genetic counselling or have attained Part I certification in genetics counselling form the Human Genetics Society of Australasia
- Demonstrated experience in a clinical genetics unit
- Proven ability to problem solve, priortise work and meet set deadlines
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, including interactions with patients, relatives and colleagues at all levels in the field
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Experience with genetics databases, pedigree software and other routine computer programs
- Knowledge of NSW Ministry of Health policies and consent forms pertaining to genetic services or an ability to acquire the same in a reasonable period of time.
This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2018_009 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.
