Aboriginal Health Worker Principal

Selection Criteria:

1. Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (an applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and a demonstrated ability to effectively and sensitively liaise and communicate with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and agencies.
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health promotion, public health, or clinical discipline, and/or extensive work related experience.
3. Demonstrated application of health promotion principles and skills in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion programs and activities (relating to improving the health and well-being of priority populations and building healthier places).
4. Demonstrated effective organisational skills including managing competing priorities, problem solving and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently to deliver agreed outcomes.
5. Demonstrated development of partnerships and relationships across health services/ teams focused on quality improvement and capacity building to implement an Aboriginal health initiative.
6. Demonstrated skills in delivery of Aboriginal primary health care, client assessment, referral and advocacy, and an ability to provide clinical supervision and cultural support, and leadership to Aboriginal Health Workers.
7. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills with an ability to maintain accurate records in appropriate clinical and/or non-clinical information systems, collate data to develop project planning and evaluation reports.
8. Current driver's licence Class C and ability and willingness to travel within the LHD for work purposes.
