Aboriginal Health Worker - Men’s Business

- Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (pursuant to Section 14 (d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977. Being male is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW).
- Hold or be willing to work towards a minimum Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and be willing to work towards Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) standards to meet Registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
- Understanding of the following factors and how they influence Aboriginal people, their cultural understanding of health issues and their health outcomes: Australian history, socio economic influences, the complexities of chronic disease and preventable lifestyle illness.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated capacity to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate health promotion and education initiatives and the ability to use computer programs required to plan, deliver or document this care (including capacity to learn relevant programs, including those for patient records and data reporting).
- Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and consult with others, document care well and interact sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people.
- Current licence to drive in NSW with the ability and willingness to travel and drive for work purposes.
