Selection Criteria

  1. To be of Aboriginal descent and be accepted to work in Broken Hill and with the ability to communicate with Aboriginal people from various communities. (NB applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW

  2. Willingness and commitment to learning and self-development, including completion of Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.

  3. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer skills including Microsoft package.

  4. Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the health of Aboriginal people, particularly mental health, drug & alcohol, psychosocial, domestic violence and/or sexual assault issues.

  5. Ability to work with limited supervision and use own initiative when required.
