Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications and current registration with AHPRA for Psychologists or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
  2. Feminine gender is a genuine occupational requirement (Section 31 Anti Discrimination Act 1977).
  3. Demonstrated skills and significant recent experience in crisis support and ongoing counselling.
  4. Extensive specialist knowledge, clinical proficiency and ability to work as a sexual assault counsellor with minimal supervision, and work collaboratively in providing community education and development.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective, strong professional and community networks.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of the issues involved in working with sexual assault service clients including: the possible impact of sexual assault on victims and their families, the complexities of ensuring effective interventions to protect child and adult victims where a number of agencies are involved.
  7. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2020_017.  All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy.

OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
