We are seeking a suitably qualified and skilled senior nurse who can work closely with the Sexual Assault leadership team to enhance forensic and medical services across the district who is passionate about supporting clients who have experienced violence abuse and neglect.

The position is rostered across the week, covering shifts during business hours, afterhours and weekends.

 

What You'll be Doing
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Clinical Nurse Consultant 2 (CNC 2) is an expert clinical practitioner who, through evidence-based practice provides specialised, and holistic forensic/medical care to male and female victims (14yrs and above) which is patient centred, culturally responsive and trauma informed meeting the medical, forensic and psychological needs of patients who have experienced a recent sexual assault.

The position will provide medical and documentation care to people who have experienced domestic and family violence. 

The position will work within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency approach including NSW Police, Department of Communities and Justice and other care providers.

The SANE CNC 2 is a clinical expert who provides quality health care, contributes to clinical practice standards, clinical excellence, research, and professional leadership.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years fulltime equivalent post registration clinical experience including 3 years' experience in the specialty and post graduate qualifications relevant to Sexual Health, Women’s Health or Midwifery.
  2. Demonstrate the application of professional and ethical boundaries in the delivery of patient care in the context of a multidisciplinary team and the application of evidence-based practice, trauma informed care and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person-centred care patient care.
  3. Demonstration of effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team. Providing evidence in court as requested within the scope of the nurse's expertise based on training and experience.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to participate and provide timely responses as a forensic medical examiner in a multidisciplinary team providing 24/7 on call responses to violence, abuse and neglect.
  5. Demonstrate ongoing professional development and a commitment to maintaining clinical competency, with a willingness to share expertise with colleagues. Possess sound knowledge of NSW Health Child Protection Policy and Procedures, and issues affecting young people and adults impacted by sexual assault with a willingness to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Medical Forensic Management of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Forensic Photography.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
