Selection Criteria

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Professionals (State) Award with a Bachelor’s Degree, current HGSA membership and HGSA Board Eligible with a minimum of Part 1 in Genetic Counselling certification, attainment of Part 2 preferable.
  2. Extensive postgraduate counselling experience in a prenatal setting
  3. Computer skills / database experience including Trakgene or similar
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels.
  5. Extensive ability to work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, prioritise workload and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgment when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  6. Demonstrated ability to provide high level advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control and Work Health & Safety principles
  8. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical support and supervision to other health professionals, technical and support staff.
