Applications are invited for a provisional fellow in Neurology. In the specialty of Neurology, Headache is the most common reason for presentation to Emergency or referral to clinic.  The cost of headache each year in Australia is estimated to be over $50 billion. Despite the high prevalence chronicity and morbidity of headache, and the economic burden of the condition, headache clinical services and research are often overlooked on healthcare agendas. Proudly, St Vincent’s Hospital is the only centre in Sydney to offer a regular weekly headache clinic.  

 

The programme aims to facilitate a clinical and research programme focussing on the Headache.  The role is designed for a final year advance trainee or first year post-FRACP seeking to develop subspecialty experience.  The role is considered a platform to obtain research data to serve as a basis for a generating further grant application in order to support the candidate continuing the research and to complete in a PhD.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. Completion of training in Neurology with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or its equivalent (post-FRACP). Attainment of FRACP in Neurology
  3. Registration with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
  5. Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
  7. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Mission and Values of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
