Purpose of the Position
The position will involve providing comprehensive interventional cardiology services including diagnostic coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention and primary PCI for acute coronary syndromes as well as provision of associated treatments. The position will involve being part of an on-call roster for primary PCI. 
 
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC). 
 
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered
  2. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
  3. PhD, MD or equivalent and a track record of academic research including publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at scientific meetings. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing cardiovascular research.
  4. Advanced training in coronary intervention and proven experience in percutaneous coronary intervention for stable disease and acute coronary syndrome, use of adjunctive imaging modalities, use and interpretation of coronary physiological assessment and proven track record on a 24/7 interventional on-call roster as a consultant cardiologist.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand the specific challenges and future opportunities in interventional cardiology for the local health district.
  6. Experience in the supervision of Advanced Trainees in cardiology within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
