About the Opportunity
Applications are sought from suitably qualified Registered Nurse with previous Oncology/Palliative or Community Nursing experience to work with the Oncology Treatment Team at Young as an associate McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (MCCN). An associate McGrath Cancer Care Nurse is a nurse with Oncology/Palliative or Community Nursing experience who will work towards MCCN qualifications (with the support of the McGrath Foundation), on a pathway that includes Tertiary Education, Clinical Supervision and direct mentorship from the McGrath Foundation Clinical Lead team. The successful applicant will work within this role and be expected to fulfil the functions of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse whilst undertaking the educational activities with the Support of the MLHLD and the McGrath Foundation.

About You
You are a registered nurse with a passion for supporting individuals affected by breast cancer. You bring clinical expertise, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to provide person-centred care. You thrive in collaborative environments, value continuous learning, and are committed to advancing your professional practice, including through postgraduate education in oncology or breast care nursing.
You demonstrate:
- Clinical leadership and consultancy skills, providing expert advice to patients, carers, and healthcare teams.
- The ability to deliver education, counselling, and emotional support to individuals and their families.
- Engagement with research and evidence-based practice to enhance care quality.
- Capacity to plan, manage, and evaluate care services within complex healthcare settings.
- Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to evolving models of care while prioritising patient needs.
If no post graduate education in the relevant specialty area of cancer care nursing, then an informed decision and expectation that the successful candidate will be supported by McGrath Foundation and MLHD to obtain post- graduate qualifications in oncology nursing care.
This will require the associate MCCN to commence in the role within the McGrath Foundation Associate Pathway.
