Health Education Officer

1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
2. Relevant Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in frontline harm reduction services. Current NSW drivers licence and the ability to work in various locations across the LHD.
3. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HIV, hepatitis C and other blood borne viruses and the principles of harm minimisation.
4. Comprehensive understanding of issues affecting individuals who inject drugs inclusive of social, legal and ethical factors.
5. The ability to relate to people who inject drugs in a non-judgemental manner and sensitivity to lifestyle issues.
6. Demonstrated competency in computer, written and verbal communication skills.
7. An ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently with minimal supervision.
8. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and evaluate projects, to meet deadlines and to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders e.g. community members, non-government organisations, LHD Executive, government agencies, and other healthcare workers.
