  1. Grade 1 - Dental Assistants Certificate of Proficiency up to Certificate III or equivalent, or if unqualified a minimum 2 years’ recent dental assisting experience; OR Grade 2 - Nationally recognised Dental Assisting qualification and Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Oral Health Education or Radiography) or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated high level skills, knowledge and ability to provide competent dental assisting, to patients of all ages and medical complexities, ensuring excellence in patient care.
  3. Knowledge and thorough understanding of current Dental Infection Control procedures.
  4. An awareness of population and public oral health issues, Grade 2 will in addition have a demonstrated advanced level of understanding in Oral Health Promotion or Radiography.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the challenges involved with delivery of dental care in remove circumstances and ability to problem solve and risk manage unexpected or complex situations.
  6. Demonstrated good organisational, time management problem solving skills in a workplace environment.
  7. Demonstrated administration skills with high level computer literacy skills.
  8. Current valid and unrestricted Australian State or Territory drivers licence, and willingness to travel and work in various locations within the district.
