Accredited Radiation Oncology Trainees in the Southern NSW and ACT Training Network will provide quality patient care, demonstrating excellent clinical skills and judgement, in a complex and challenging clinical environment.

Accredited Radiation Oncology Trainees in the Southern NSW and ACT Training Network will provide quality patient care, demonstrating excellent clinical skills and judgement, in a complex and challenging clinical environment.
Trainees will gain expertise in every facet of Radiation Oncology, including but not limited to:
- Patient management during and after completion of treatment; outpatient clinical duties, inpatient consultation services and care of the terminally ill.
- Radiotherapy contouring and treatment planning under consultant supervision.
- Maintaining professional relationships within the Cancer Services teams and thorough communication throughout the Hospital departments and Network groups.
- The Southern NSW and ACT Network is comprised of the following six training sites: The Canberra Hospital, Liverpool/Campbelltown Hospitals, Prince of Wales Hospital, St George Hospital, St Vincents Hospital, Wollongong/Shoalhaven Hospitals.
- The position involves a minimum 12 month (1FTE) rotation to another site within the Training Network to fulfil all curriculum requirements, in order for the trainee to attain their Fellowship with RANZCR, as per the RANZCR Training Policy.
- Accredited Radiation Oncology Trainee contract terms comprise of an initial three year contract and a subsequent two year contract, provided the Advanced Trainee has met the required progression milestones, to allow adequate duration to reach their completion of training.
Selection Criteria
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated interest and preparation for training in Radiation Oncology, and eligibility for student membership to The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR). Candidates applying for a first-year training position must also submit a valid RANZCR College Registration Verification Number (CRVN) as part of their application.
- Demonstrated excellent clinical skills and judgement, analytical and compassionate reasoning, and patient advocacy.
- Demonstrated effective teamwork within a complex and challenging clinical environment, with high capacity for time management, problem solving, cultural competency and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supervised environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning, teaching activities, potential involvement with projects and research publications.
- Preparedness to move between geographical locations in the delivery patient care, and participate in overtime and on-call as required.
