Selection Criteria 

  1. Aboriginality - being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a requirement for this position
  2. Demonstrated ability to work under supervision and provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team
  4. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  5. Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking
  6. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  7. An understanding of scope of practice and demonstrated ability to work within scope boundaries
  8. Willingness and capacity to complete a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance qualification throughout the traineeship program
