Aboriginal Sexual Health Promotion Officer

Essential Criteria

Qualification: Tertiary qualification in social sciences, health or related field
Evidence of Diversity claim: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

Selection Criteria

1. This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences, health or related field
3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
4. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and/or abilities in Health Promotion planning, implementation and evaluation, preferably with a focus on HIV/STI/Hepatitis for Aboriginal and LGBTQIA communities.
5. Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity towards the issues affecting LGBTQIA communities, Aboriginal communities and young people in the NSW HIV, Sexually Transmissible Infections and Hepatitis B & C Strategies.
6. Demonstrated experience and/or abilities in building and maintaining successful partnerships with relevant partners including government and non-government organisations and community based organisations.
7. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team with excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills
8. Current Drivers Licence valid within New South Wales and the willingness and ability to travel.
