Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as an Aboriginal person and be accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Must also hold current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
  2. Professional registration/membership and clinical experience as follows: i) Occupational Therapy - minimum Bachelor Degree and general registration with AHPRA; with clinical experience in a mental health setting or ii) Counselling and Social Work - minimum Bachelor Degree (includes Djirruwang Program) and eligibility for membership of AASW where applicable; with clinical experience in a mental health setting or iii) Psychologist: Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, including full registration with AHPRA; with clinical experience in a mental health setting or iv) Registered Nurse - Current registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse in a mental health setting.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community and can engage Aboriginal communities to contribute towards the development, delivery and evaluation of culturally competent strategies and services that provide positive mental health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
  4. Demonstrated ability to support Aboriginal people and their families to ensure an understanding of clinical interventions and service delivery processes that enable informed decisions in relation to physical health, wellbeing, strengthening suicide prevention through improved transitions back into community.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach to the provision of care to the Aboriginal community, consumer and carer focused clinical practice which is collaborative and provided in a holistic and respectful way.
  6. Ability to conduct Mental Health assessments and participate in multi-disciplinary care coordination.
  7. High level computer skills including accuracy and demonstrated knowledge of eMR programs or willingness to learn same.
  8. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively in multidisciplinary team environment to achieve optimal outcomes for consumers and their families/carers.
