Essential Criteria


Qualification: Aboriginal Health Worker: Holds or aspires to hold a Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or Aboriginal Family Health or other equivalent qualification. Aboriginal Health Practitioner: Hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice)
Evidence of Diversity claim: Aboriginal and / Or Torres Strait Islander

 

Selection Criteria

  1. This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  2. In this role, being a woman is also a genuine occupational qualification as authorised by Section 31 respectively of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
  3. Holds or aspires to hold a Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or Aboriginal Family Health or other equivalent qualification in a health-related field relevant to the role. For an Aboriginal Health Practitioner holds a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and a current authority to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) .
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with established links to the local Aboriginal community in western Sydney.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal women and women having an Aboriginal baby and their infants and and / or experience in providing social support, linkage to services, group work, community education, advocacy and health promotion with the Aboriginal community.
  6. Demonstrated ability to provide cultural brokerage with individuals, families and communities; cultural guidance for the other members of the team; and, facilitate respectful and culturally safe access for individuals, families and communities.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and can demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and computer skills.
  8. Current driver’s licence valid in NSW and willing to use for work purposes.
