Aboriginal Health Practitioner
Selection Criteria
- To be of Aboriginal descent and be accepted to work in Broken Hill and with the ability to communicate with Aboriginal people from various communities. (NB applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW
- Willingness and commitment to learning and self-development, including completion of Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer skills including Microsoft package.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the health of Aboriginal people, particularly mental health, drug & alcohol, psychosocial, domestic violence and/or sexual assault issues.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and use own initiative when required.
