Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network is a state-wide Specialty Health Network delivering health care to adults and young people in contact with the forensic mental health and criminal justice systems across community, inpatient and custodial settings.

The Senior Environmental Health Officer (SEHO) role supports Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network and Corrective Services NSW to meet relevant NSW Environmental Health policy and legislative requirements, maintain a safe environment for staff and inmates and ensure Workplace Health and Safety for employees
The custodial environment poses a number of environmental health risks to inmates, visitors and staff. These risks and specific environmental health related interventions encompass the broad areas of water, food, air and the physical environment. The position provides essential state-wide functions related to health protection.

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of current NSW Environmental Health policy, strategic priorities and Law in relation to Environmental and Public Health, Food, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead planning, implementation and evaluation of Environmental Health interventions including data collection and reporting and engagement of stakeholders.
  • Proven advanced written and verbal communication skills including preparation of detailed project reports, briefs, business cases, funding proposal and communication strategies.
  • Proven ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously to meet stated time frames
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, within a team and with external agencies and key stakeholders
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and ability and willingness to drive / travel throughout NSW.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and an ability to use common office software such as e-mail, the internet, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
