Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network is a state-wide Specialty Health Network delivering health care to adults and young people in contact with the forensic mental health and criminal justice systems across community, inpatient and custodial settings.


The primary purpose of the Registered Nurse Mental Health is the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of specialist mental health nursing care for patients with mental disorders.
The position holder will work within Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (JH&FMHN) and Ministry of Health policies, procedures and guidelines as well as Corrective Services NSW rules and regulations as set out in the relevant legislation.

  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with mental illness or disorder as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Demonstrated competency in coordinating high quality mental health care informed by the principles of recovery and trauma oriented care.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health legislation and principles.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills including competency with standard computer applications and electronic patient administration systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of quality improvement in health care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network.
