For this role, we are looking for a health care professional with:
· Degree in Diversional/Recreational Therapy.
· Eligibility for membership with Diversional and Recreation Therapy Australia (DRTA).
· Experience working with male and female adults and/or adolescents with mental illness.
The Role
The Diversional Therapist is responsible for the delivery of leisure and recreation-based assessment and intervention to patients with mental illness. The Diversional Therapist will work with individuals and groups to develop leisure interests and opportunities which enhance health and wellbeing. The Diversional Therapist will work closely with multidisciplinary teams (MDT), the Senior Therapist and the Manager Allied Health.
Our Location, Team, and Service
The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients.
A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals provide care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care.
While working at the Forensic Hospital, you will develop strong professional connections with colleagues and making a positive contribution to vulnerable people. A comprehensive two-week full-time orientation is provided, with the next 2 intake dates being 26 May 2025 and 4 August 2025.
