What you'll be doing

Chemical Pathology is a discipline in the field of Pathology which deals with the entire range of disease. It encompasses detecting changes in a wide range of substances in blood and body fluids (electrolytes, enzymes and proteins) in association with many diseases. In addition, it involves detecting and measuring tumour (cancer) markers, hormones, poisons and both therapeutic and illicit drugs.

The primary purpose of the Chemical Pathology training positions is to undertake further training towards obtaining a Fellowship with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. Possess minimum two (2) years postgraduate clinical experience.
  3. Demonstrated experience in Chemical Pathology consistent with the current level of training or evidence of vocational interest in Chemical Pathology.
  4. Demonstrated interest in metabolic and diagnostic aspects of medicine.
  5. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication and interpersonal skills within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and clinical quality improvement activities.
  7. Demonstrated personal qualities including motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
  8. Sound knowledge of statistical methods and experience with data management in a clinical research environment.
